Ridgerunner Outfitters is a premier hunting destination for outdoor enthusiasts. This isn’t a high fence hunt, this is wilderness hunting in its purest form. We operate on 130 square miles in the heart of the Nez Perce–Clearwater National Forest, home to old growth forest, an abundance of crystal clear streams, and plenty of game.


As the sole outfitter in the area, and due to the remote location, we experience very little outside hunting pressure. To further improve our success, we start hunting well beyond where most people are willing to go. All of our backcountry camps are about ten miles from any road and accessible only by horseback. The end result is a cozy tent overlooking some of the most beautiful mountains Idaho has to offer.

The Ridgerunner

Hike to the site where William C Moreland called home after leaving the city to live in the mountains. His journeys brought him to the North Fork Clearwater River country in 1942, where he lived alone and away from people until his disappearance in 1963. He lived off the land, was pursued by the Forest Service and logging companies for “borrowing” conveniences the land couldn’t provide, and spent a lot of time staying in this HUGE hollow cedar tree, earning legendary status as “The Ridgerunner“.

Ridgerunner Outfitters operates under a special-use permit with the Nez Perce–Clearwater National Forest.

The Experience

Since this is a fair chase hunt, we cannot guarantee a successful harvest, but we strive to provide a successful experience. Since purchasing the outfit in 2025, customer satisfaction has been the center of all we do. We’re going to work hard for you, have a few laughs, and feed you so well that you’ll have to squeeze into your camo britches in the morning. You're not just booking a harvest, you're booking a hunting trip, and we're here to deliver on both ends.
